Rebecca Giles, an MA in Social Work student working with the Centre for Community Engagement Research at Goldsmiths College, University of London, conducted qualitative research which highlighted the benefits, for local older people, of attending Stones End Day Centre.
The study concluded that “Stones End Day Centre is experienced positively by participants due to the combination of being occupied, having companionship and developing good relationships with staff. This positive experience improves their quality of life and wellbeing.”
The full research document is available on the centre’s website here.
It is the first independent scientific study to assess the benefits of attending Stones End.
