We're a local charity with a national name giving local older people help, support, advice, and a voice in their communities around Leicester, the County, and Rutland.

Then look no further. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Volunteer Co-ordinator to join our team and lead our volunteering efforts.  

The successful candidate for this role should have relevant and proven experience in volunteer management, with a desire to collaborate with others to generate new and exciting ideas by promoting the charity's philanthropy.

Duties: 

  • Recruit volunteers and place them across the organisation 
  • Collaborate with managers by undertaking the appropriate onboarding processes  
  • Ensuring any legislative policies and procedures are implemented and followed  
  • Provide a clear and comprehensive induction program 
  • Work with private, public, and third-sector organisations  
  • Organise work/student placements building relationships with local schools/colleges and universities  
  • Provide robust information and advice to managers & volunteers which is in line with HR policies  
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team, being creative on how to attract volunteers  
  • Use social media platforms to promote, celebrate, and recruit volunteers 
  • Lead the delivery of events i.e. Volunteers’ Week, attend job fairs and celebration events 
  • Network with other local, regional, and national Age UK organisations  
  • Streamline the current volunteer management process 
  • Provide administrative tasks, and support and contribute to the wider HR team 

Key Skills & Experience

  • Experience in managing and supporting volunteers 
  • Experience in implementing new working practices within a team 
  • Proven experience in supporting and advising others on best practice and procedures 
  • An understanding of good practice in volunteer management 
  • Demonstrable and up-to-date knowledge of good practice in equality, diversity, and inclusion 
  • Demonstrable and up-to-date knowledge of GDPR and use of CRM Management systems 
  • Relevant and up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding principles 
  • Effective at building strong working relationships 
  • Organised, efficient, with strong attention to detail 
  • Proven ability to manage your time effectively 
  • Deliver excellent customer service 
  • Proven ability to plan and implement projects and programs of work 
  • Demonstrable ability to solve problems and deal with complaints 
  • Computer literate with an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office packages 
  • Experienced with databases including navigation, inputting, report building, and analytics 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team 
  • Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity 
  • Proactive and adaptable approach to work 

Hours:                       20 Hours per week                         
Salary:                       £13,828.32 per annum
