Age UK Leicester Shire & Rutland is more than a Charity, we are a lifeline to older people in our local communities. As part of our mission to support older people in their everyday lives, we provide a range of services, including a home maintenance service.
Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a Casual Handyperson to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing general maintenance tasks and minor household repairs, including painting and decorating, as well as installing safety features such as handrails and grab rails. All work should be completed professionally and efficiently.
- General Maintenance Knowledge – Experience with basic repairs, painting, decorating, and household maintenance tasks.
- Technical Ability – Competence in using hand tools and small power tools safely and effectively.
- Problem-Solving Skills – Able to assess repair needs and determine the most efficient way to address them.
- Attention to Detail – Takes pride in delivering high-quality, tidy, and safe work.
- Time Management – Able to prioritise tasks and manage workload to complete jobs efficiently.
- Good Communication – Able to interact professionally with clients, team members, or residents.
- Physical Fitness – Comfortable with manual work, including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environments.
- Health & Safety Awareness – Knowledge of safe work practices, especially when installing safety items like handrails and grab rails.
- Flexibility – Willing to undertake a variety of tasks as required and adapt to changing priorities.
- Self-Motivated – Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Experience: Previous experience in a similar role is essential
- Knowledge: Proven knowledge evidenced through your work history.
- Driving License: A valid driving license is required.
- The role involves physical tasks such as lifting, bending, climbing ladders, and working with tools. Adjustments can be made where possible to support applicants with specific needs."
- Good Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with clients politely and professionally.
- Good IT Skills: Ability to provide quotations, with a breakdown of costs, and the completion of clear and accurate paperwork
