Care Assistant Driver
We're a local charity with a national name giving local older people help, support, advice, and a voice in their communities around Leicester, the County, and Rutland.
We are recruiting a Care Assistant Driver. The purpose of the role is to transport clients to and from the day clubs, you will also assist the day club organiser in maintaining a fully supportive day club for older people in accordance with their individual needs.
This role offers amazing rewards by helping older people attend the centres allowing social interaction, which helps tackle, loneliness, and isolation. Everyone is part of a dynamic team most importantly you will provide a great service to the clients ensuring they have an amazing, enjoyable day, this can also involve days out, from garden centres to the seaside. D1 Category is required for the role.
The main responsibilities are:
- Collaborate with the day club organiser to identify opportunities for the service to engage with the local community, promoting social inclusion.
- Assist with the preparation and serving of nutritionally balanced meals and drinks, considering personal preferences, assessed needs, and any religious, cultural, or medical requirements.
- Provide appropriate support to clients with personal care needs, including hygiene assistance and help with eating.
- Transport people to and from the day club, ensuring their safe journey to and from their homes.
- Help clients to safely enter and exit the minibus, ensuring their safety and addressing their physical needs.
- Support the upkeep of the minibus by performing daily checks, refuelling the vehicle, ensuring cleanliness, and reporting any maintenance or repair needs to the manager.
Skills & Requirements:
- Proven experience of driving a minibus or similar vehicle
- Assisting passengers’ ability to follow health & safety requirements
- A caring and compassionate nature, being pleasant and approachable
- Excellent communication skills
- Flexible approach
- Work as part of a team with a hands-on-approach
- Good IT Skills
- Valid driver’s license (with appropriate endorsement for driving a minibus) D1 with a clean driving record
- Maintenance and ensuring the vehicle is in good condition through regular checks and cleaning

Hours: 23 hours Tuesday Wednesday & Thursday
Salary: £14,643.31 per annum
