Our response to possible reduction of cold weather payment

Cold weather payments can make a huge difference to the poorest and most vulnerable older people in times of very cold weather. With 1 in 3 pensioner households living in fuel poverty, many older people are already afraid to switch their heating on because they are so worried about paying the bills. Any move to reduce this vital payment will leave many people wondering if they can afford to heat their homes this winter. Older people who are worried about their bills should call Age UK Advice on freephone 0800 169 65 65 to check they are receiving the money benefits they are entitled to.'
