Wednesday 13 July 2011, Radisson Blu Portman Hotel, London

Age UK is holding its first-ever conference dedicated to promoting excellence in older people's services on Wednesday 13 July 2011 in London.

Services for Later Life 2011 will see professionals from across the public, private and voluntary sectors come together with older service users to share expertise, ideas and innovation in developing and providing services for older people. Services for Later Life 2011 will focus on the major questions, challenges and opportunities facing all those involved in the commissioning, design and delivery of services for older people. A high-profile line up of speakers includes

  • Nick Hurd MP, Minister for Civil Society, who will deliver a keynote speech on the role that charities and social enterprises should play in providing services;
  • Charles Leadbeater, the leading authority on innovation and strategy, who will discuss the involvement of older people in the design of services;
  • Professor David Oliver from the Department of Health who will talk about the impact of health sector reform on services.
  • Ben Page from Ipsos MORI who will present research on older people's experience as users of services.

Helena Herklots, Services Director at Age UK, said: 'This conference could not be more timely, nor more important for people in later life. The government's change agenda for the NHS and its plans for public sector reform make this event a key forum to bring together all those trying to improve services and achieve better outcomes for older people.'
