Salary: £32,000 per year 

Hours: Full Time 35hrs (28hrs may be considered)

A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced People Advisor to join our Lancashire based charity supporting older people to live their best later lives. Joining a small People & Payroll team and working closely with the Director of People & Culture, in this newly created role you will be able to shape what is being delivered, while strengthening the positive organisational culture of Age UK Lancashire.

The purpose of this HR generalist role is to provide first-line advice and guidance to line managers on a range of HR matters, manage day to day enquiries coming in to the People team, and support the People initiatives that make Age UK Lancashire a great place to work.

It’s a varied role which will see you involved in all aspects of HR, allowing you to further develop your existing skills and experience. You’ll be involved in everything from on-boarding to off-boarding, employee relations, performance management, policies, procedures and best practice, as well as reporting, employee engagement, and internal communications.

You will:

  • Support, coach and advise managers, ensuring they are skilled and have the confidence to resolve employee issues including discipline, grievance, capability, and absence procedures
  • Ensure that all advice and guidance provided is in line with policies, legal requirements, and best practice.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with Managers, Heads of Department and Directors.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate employee records, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations, and improving systems where possible.
  • Support our Learning & Development initiatives administering our online learning platform, supporting outsourced training, and coaching managers where appropriate.
  • Undertake HR administration processes, including meeting note taking, onboarding and offboarding, drafting letters, employment contracts, policies and other HR-related documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Play a key role in developing and embedding Equality, Diversity and Inclusion across the charity, ensuring that this is at the forefront of all People activities.
  • Support and embed wellbeing initiatives across the charity.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a confident HR professional, committed to continuous improvement, ensuring good practice tailored to the needs of a medium sized charity.
  • Be values driven with a clear understanding of how to support a people focussed culture.
  • Have a pro-active approach to work and problem solving, and the ability to deal with difficult and sensitive situations in a diplomatic and professional manner.
  • Have a working knowledge of GDPR and it’s management.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the importance and benefits of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
  • Be able to interpret data and provide recommendations to improve people activities.
  • Be comfortable with technology, you will be familiar with HRIS and Microsoft Office 365 including Teams, Excel, Word, and Powerpoint.
  • Be able to work on your own initiative, with a solutions focussed approach
  • Have a full UK driving licence.
