Dementia Support-Group Activities Helper
Location: Various venues across Central & West Lancs.
Hours: Various hours available.
We do not expect a minimum time commitment from any volunteer.
Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) is a programme that provides older people with mild to moderate dementia the opportunity to take part in meaningful and stimulating activities that are proven to help maintain memory and mental functioning. The groups offer a fun, supportive environment where people can build new friendships and increase their sense of independence.
The programme is facilitated by members of staff, but the involvement of volunteers is vital to ensure all participants can be best included and supported
We are looking for someone with the following skills:
- Good, active listening skills
- Empathy and patience
- Interest/experience in supporting and empowering older people living with dementia
- Sociable and able to communicate well
- Ability to complete online training
You will strive to ensure all participants are included, supported and encouraged to participate in group activities and assist with serving refreshments, room setup and basic housekeeping tasks.
Full training and out of pocket expenses will be provided.
This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring check.
