Days & Times: Between Monday-Friday 9.00am-12.30pm and 12.30pm-3.30pm
We do not expect a minimum time committment for any volunteer.
We are a Day Club for those over 50 years who just Love Later Life! Our members come along to the centre for the day to socialise, have fun, learn new skills or build on those they’ve not used for a while.
Our aims are to support people to feel confident and independent, help keep minds and bodies active and encourage everyone to get involved.
We are looking for volunteers who feel comfortable chatting one to one with older people who may have additional support needs. Having experience with supporting older people with dementia or other long term health conditions would be helpful but not essential; patience, kindness and acceptance are most important.
- You will be supporting individuals to be involved in group activities or help find a separate activity for which may be more suitable for them .
- You may demonstrate or explain the activity in simple terms, or in a different way to help an older person get involved.
- You will listen to customers, find out about their past and experiences by chatting to them and from information shared by their Key Workerwhich will support the team to engage with the customer in activities.
- You will help the key worker to find ways to positively interact and make a difference to the individuals you are buddying up with.
- You are able to apply for more than one volunteer role if you wish to help with different tasks.
- You will be supported and guided by the staffing team
- You will be required to wear a face mask, apron, gloves and at times, a visor to keep you and our members safe
- You will be required to complete online training specific to the role
Full training and out of pocket expenses will be provided
This role is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring check.
