Give a gift of kindness this Christmas

Help us give a Gift of Kindness to a lonely older person this Christmas.

This December we want to show older people in Lancashire that they are not alone and that their local community cares and supports them.  Many older people live alone, with no family or friends to share special times with, and we know from first hand experience how hard that can be for people. The winter months can be especially tough as many people are unable to get out and socialise, or even pop out to the local shop or café, due to bad weather conditions, poor health or not being able to afford to.

So, we have launched our Gift of Kindness appeal and need your help to make it happen.

The Gift Box

We are not asking you to spend lots, as we know the current financial situation is tough for many people, we are simply asking for you to regift any new and unwanted items you feel someone else would enjoy or benefit from.  If you can purchase small gifts or items, then that would also be amazing.

Items to include

To give you an idea of the type of things you could include, we have put together the following list, but please do get creative with your own ideas:

  • Bobble hat
  • Gloves
  • Scarf
  • Thermal/Bed socks
  • Insulated mug
  • Hot water bottle
  • Hand warmers
  • Fleece or woollen throw
  • Fleece wrap / blanket
  • Reading book
  • Wordsearch or Sudoku puzzle
  • Notepad & pen
  • Bar of soap

Excluded items

There is a duty of care to our clients, so we are asking for the following not to be included:

  • Glass
  • Food items
  • Alcohol
  • Aerosols
  • Political items
  • War related items
  • Offensive / harmful items

Each box will be carefully checked prior to being handed out to our clients. Please do not seal your box, as each box needs to be inspected.

We would love you to wrap the gift box up, but please do the lid separately and do not seal it.
