Together We're Not Alone

For many older people across the UK, the festive season is not a time of celebration but one of loneliness, isolation, and being overlooked - leaving them dreading what should be a joyful time.
We’re on a mission to raise £3,000 to fund vital services that reduce loneliness across Lancashire this winter such as our Good Day Calls, Support at Home, and Day Clubs - Donate today and help us make a difference.
Loneliness can affect anyone, regardless of their age, circumstances, or environment. Whether we are surrounded by others or spending time alone, feelings of isolation are a natural part of life. However, for many - particularly those in later life - loneliness can become a persistent challenge, significantly impacting overall well-being.
Research highlights the profound effects of loneliness, linking it to:
- Inactivity and increased stress.
- Higher risks of coronary heart disease, stroke, and cognitive decline.
- Depression, low self-esteem, and social anxiety.
- Sleep disturbances and an increased risk of Alzheimer’s
We want to help reduce loneliness across Lancashire this winter by providing resources to those who need help and support, so we've created this free guide to Friendship and Community Groups across Lancashire. You can access it here - Lancashire Community Groups
This winter, Age UK Lancashire are here to reconnect individuals with their neighbours, friends, and families through:
- Good Day Calls - Providing regular, friendly phone calls to those feeling isolated
- Support at Home - Helping individuals maintain independence while staying connected
- Day Clubs - Welcoming spaces in Ormskirk, Lancaster, and Nelson where individuals can form friendships and engage in fun activities
