Break Out for Charity

Published on 24 March 2022 04:29 PM

This year's Break Out event took place on Wednesday 23rd March, and we are happy to announce the event was a success. Our 3 participants were locked up and did a brilliant job to raise funds and escape our secret prison.

We were very grateful that Burnley Football Club let us use their Turf Moor stadium to host and were very welcoming.  We had 3 participants taking part, Joanne Spencer from Copy Print Solutions, Zoe Fleming from Marsden Rawsthorn Solicitors and Steve Ashcroft from Pure Energy Solutions.

The event started off with a bang!  Our participants were in good spirits and Joanne Spencer was on fire, bringing in the early funds to kickstart the day. Zoe Fleming had been prepared and with the help of her office brought in a large sum of money early on. Steve Ashcroft was a man on a mission taking calls and sending emails every chance he could to raise bail. The Breakout had begun, and the escape was on.

Sharon Watson from Age UK Lancashire said: “Our participants did an amazing job today and we can’t thank them and everyone who donated throughout the day enough. We make sure they kept smiling during their lockdown with music and plenty of refreshments.  It was a really good laugh and great to be able to network with each other”.

“After a long day of fundraising our participants were able to reach the end and complete this year’s Break Out event. Altogether they were able to raise almost £2000 which is an amazing effort”.

All the money raised stays in Lancashire directly supporting our services for older people.

After they were released, the participants were lucky enough to have a tour of Turf Moor, topping off the day in an extra special way.

Joanne Spencer: “I had a fantastic day and would highly recommend this event to anyone”

Steve Ashcroft: “It’s been amazing to help such a worthwhile charity and I can wait to come back and do it again”

Zoe Fleming: “I’ve had a great day being able to help support Age UK Lancashire”

We’d like to thank everyone who participated in the event and congratulate them for doing such an amazing job. To everyone who donated to our fundraisers throughout the day, thank you for supporting our charity. Also, a huge thank you to Burnley Football Club for hosting the event on such a wonderful day.
