Age UK Lambeth’s (AUKL) Neighbourhood Engagement Advisor (Advisor) delivers an advice outreach programme that will achieve extensive reach to seldom heard, non-engaging residents, providing introductory IAG, and connecting residents to specialist advice-based support.

The Advisor is a permanent outreach officer, who will attend every group and organisation possible, to speak to groups of residents and ensure the greatest number of Lambeth residents eligible for advice-based support are receiving it.

The Advisor will provide basic IAG to residents on a variety of topics and where appropriate support with single issues that do not require additional casework. The type of IAG the Advisor will provide includes, but is not limited to:

- completing benefit checks and information giving on welfare benefits/grants/payments clients may be entitled to,
-providing leaflets, factsheets and information from Age UK National, AUKL, and Lambeth,
- providing introductory information and guidance on housing, employment and statutory support,
- simple form filling or reviewing completed forms,
- signposting and referring to specialist support when further, ongoing support is required. This will be into AUKL services and external services where - appropriate, including AUKL’s benefits, carers and energy advice and NWWs; additional prospective AUKL advice services; and others within the Connect Lambeth and wider VCSE sector, including those funded through Lambeth Advice Services grants.

Single issue support is dependent on the client group, event type and if there’s a confidential and safe space to discuss certain issues.
