Do you need practical support to help look after yourself, manage your care needs and to live comfortably in your home? We can help you to manage activities of daily living such as cooking, cleaning, tidying, decluttering and shopping.
What level of help do you need?
Do you need help with getting up, getting washed or with cooking? Depending on your situation, we can help you to get an assessment for a ‘package of care’ from social services or to access relevant benefits so you can pay for your own care. If you are mostly independent, but need some extra help to help you manage at home, we can help you to find local services who can help on a paid-for, one-off or regular basis.
Shopping, lunch-clubs and meal services
There are lots of ways we can help make food shopping easier for you - from helping you get set-up to do online shopping or finding local supermarkets that deliver. We can also let you know about meal services and local lunch-clubs.
Handyperson scheme
Islington’s handypersons’ scheme provides help with small repairs around the home. These might be things that the council’s repair service or a landlord would not normally cover. The service is for older residents & those with a disability. Carers in receipt of Carer’s Allowance or Direct Payments can also use the service. You do not need to live in a council property to be eligible.

Finding a local tradesperson or service
To find a gardener, painter or repairs service, some extra help with shopping or cleaning or a mobile hairdresser, we can help you to find local services and tradespeople that can help. We use directories to help you find a selection of services and can provide guidance to help you to choose a supplier.
