World Alzheimer's Awareness Month

Published on 01 September 2022 11:13 AM

What is World Alzheimers Awareness Month?

Every September for World Alzheimers Awareness Month people come together from all around the world to raise awareness and to challenge the stigma that persists around dementia.

One in three of us born in the UK today will go onto develop dementia in our lifetime. There will be one million people living with dementia by 2025. By raising awareness about dementia, through various events across the UK including in Islington, it is hoped more people will be diagnosed earlier.

Getting a diagnosis of dementia can give individuals a better understanding of the condition and what to expect. Timely diagnosis can help with making important decisions about treatment, support and care.
