Summer fun activities outdoors

Discover what is happening outdoors here in Islington this summer! Try activities and events to keep you active and connected.

Healthy Generations, The Stuart Low Trust and Healthy Minds Healthy Bodies are offering lots of options to get outside and take part in some gentle and not so gentle exercise. 

Local walks are also a great way to get gentle, but very effective exercise, with the opportunity to meet others at the same time.

Greater London Walks has got funding for a series of Islington walks this summer. There’s also regular walks taking place in parks across Islington. 

Healthy Generations Classes:

Mondays: Outdoor Qi Gong Class from 10.00am-11.00  every Monday

Join Kasia Pieczulis in Dartmouth Park (Bickerton Road Entrance) for a traditional Chinese workout class to get some fresh air and be in community with others! There is a £3 optional donation in partnership with Islington Parks.

Tuesdays: Total Body Workout & Outdoor Qi Gong Class every Tuesday

Total body workout: Join Sarah Jane Moss from 10.00am-11.00am in Tufnell Park Playing Fields for a chance to get fresh air, be with others and get a full body workout all at the same time. There is a £3 optional donation in partnership with Islington Parks.

Qi Gong class: Join Kasia Pieczulis from 10.00am-11.15am in King's Square for a traditional Chinese workout class to get some fresh air and be in community with others! There is a £3 optional donation in partnership with Islington Parks.

Wednesdays: Outdoor Qi Gong Class & Outdoor Cardio and Muscles Keep Fit Class every Wednesday

Outdoor Qi Gong Class: Join Kasia Pieczulis from 8.30am-9.45am in Whittington Park for a traditional Chinese workout class outdoors to get some fresh air and join the social in cafe following! Will meet outside the cafe. There is a £3 optional donation in partnership with Islington Parks.

Outdoor Cardio and Muscles Keep Fit Class: Join Gee Dudley from 10.30am-11.45am in Caledonian Park for cardio and muscle exercises to help stay fit all while getting outside and in community with others. Will meet outside Tolpuddle Cafe. There is a £3 optional donation in partnership with Islington Parks.

Fridays: Outdoor Total Body Workout from 9.45am-10.45am

Greater London Walks

Fridays July-Sept

Greater London Walks are offering free historical walks this summer. The walks have been designed especially for Islington's older residents to enjoy – they are not too long and not too fast!

Islington Ecology Centre

There is a regular Heath & Nature Walk from the Ecology Centre, Gillespie Park and regular free, family-friendly fun sessions. See details of what's coming up here

Wednesday 6th & 20th July

What to look for in Summer at Camley Street Natural Park: Places are limited. Booking required. A face-to-face event.

FitGents: Longevity Keep Fit with Qi Gong exercises followed by social. Places are limited and booking is required. Face-to-face.

Saturday 23rd & 30th July:

Chi Kung Summer School: Places are limited and booking is required. Face-to-face.

Healthy Minds Healthy Bodies

Thursday we have our regular walk, leaving from Highbury Grange Medical Practice at 11am, returning around 12:30, walking around Clissold Park.

Friday, we exercise with Sarah and Healthy Generations at the very top of Highbury Fields at 9:45am.

Saturday, we exercise on the large field, near the closed off road, on Highbury Fields outdoors at 9:45am.

Resuming in September....Sunday, outdoor Zumba at top of main field on Highbury Fields at 12pm, followed by a wonderful social picnic at 1pm.
