Her Majesty The Queen is celebrating being the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee
Marking Her Majesty The Queen's 70 years of service, communities are coming together to celebrate over a four day UK bank holiday weekend. Throughout the weekend there is lots happening in Islington, in London and the BBC will be providing live television coverage. It's a great opportunity to get together with others to commemorate this unforgettable milestone!

Free Family Day at St Luke’s Community Centre; Jubilee Summer Fair & Parade at Hilldrop Community Centre; Garden Party at Sotheby Mews
- To celebrate the Platinum Jubilee join the Islington community at this free event! From 12 noon - 4pm on 1 June there are a number of activities happening throughout this time including: royal biscuit & cake decorating with the Junior Chefs, join Little Angel Theatre’s puppet workshop (for children 4-12 years), join Soapbox for Discovery Sessions (for young people), enjoy Entertainment from Key changes (1pm-3pm) and more! - Join Hilldrop Community Centre for a summer fair beginning with a tea party on Community Lane starting at 3pm. Then enjoy the parade which will begin at 3.30pm outside of the Community Centre where kids and families are invited to wear crowns and fancy dress along with decorated hobby-horses, trikes & scooters! Lastly there will be a garden party from 4.30 - 8.30pm featuring an international supper and entertainments including Hilldrop Ukulele Band and Camden Harmony Singer Choir! Trooping The Colour; Beacon Lighting Event; Sobell Better Get Together
- The Queen’s Birthday Parade will begin at 11am trooping between Buckingham Palace and the parade ground. While tickets for seated viewing are sold out, the public is able to view the display during their journey, via large screens in St James’ Park and live on BBC and Sky television.
- In Islington, a beacon lighting event will take place in Dartmouth Park at 9.45pm. The community of Islington will come together to celebrate this milestone. Local councillors and the Mayor will be taking part.
- Sobell Better Get Together will be hosting a Platinum Jubilee celebration including party games and snacks as a part of the regular sports social. Please see our webpage for more information about the Sobell Better Get Together.

Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral

Mildmay Community Centre Tea Party; Community Mosaic and Festival
- Join Mildmay Community Centre for their big, adults only, Mad Hatter’s Platinum Jubilee Tea Party. From 2pm - 6pm there will be live music from Mississippi Swing, fun & games in the garden and free high tea! Tickets are free but need to be picked up ASAP, only 100 tickets are available! - Caxton House Community Centre is putting on a day full of free activities, food and fun while bringing together our communities and rich cultures to celebrate The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee! There will be arts activities with artists Marilyn Collins and Rachel Fell, painting Living Space Arts School, bookmark decorating with Summit Amiss, dance workshops, facepainting and much more! The event is from 12noon - 6pm throughout the ground floor of the Caxton House Community Centre. For more information you can download the flyer and event map from their website!

Special Edition of Let's Talk Peer Event: Dame Esther's 82nd Birthday Party & Jubilee Celebrations
- We are hosting a celebration for Dame Esther Rantzen on her 82nd birthday at St Luke’s Community Centre from 10.30am - 1.30 pm! Join a special edition of Age UK Islington's ‘Let’s Talk Peer Event’ for a lively discussion with Dame Esther & party food. Adults of all ages are welcome to join us in celebration! Tranquil Health & Wellbeing Workshop at Brickworks Community Centre
- In honour of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration, Brickworks Community Centre is putting on a FREE get together workshop! From 1 - 4pm at the Brickworks Community Centre there will be activities such as vocalist, sing along, poetry, dress to impress parade and more!
