Islington Mayor delivers hampers with Age UK Islington staff to bring some festive cheer to local residents

Islington Mayor Councillor Marian Spall accompanied Age UK Islington staff and volunteers to deliver hampers to local Islington residents in need of some festive cheer, earlier this week. The ages of the Age UK Islington clients spanned more than 50 years, with delivery to clients from 39 years old through to another who is 92 years old.

Severina who is 83 years said, "Things have been a bit difficult recently, although I have been trying to push through. It made all the difference to be remembered and to receive the hamper.  It was a nice surprise!"

Synnove Kershaw, Age UK Islington Volunteer Administrator, said, "It was great to be able to bring a smile to the faces of some of our clients, thanks to corporate partner Bloomberg.  We know that there are many clients in need, and we were able to visit those who we know are in particular need of a boost". 

Ismail Bahrieyli, Head of Carers & Community said, “It’s so important to reach out to neighbours at this time, who we know will be on their own over Christmas. A phone call or an offer to pick something up from the shops can make such a difference to someone’s day. It’s also really important that people know that there are services available in the borough, such as Age UK Islington, who can connect people into any help that they need with day to day concerns.”
