Carribean Folk Dance Workshop

The Age UK Islington photography group’s latest project – photographing “Domestic Lives: London & Korea” has been a great way of the group getting to know each other better.  As part of the project, they discovered that member Dorothy Palmer, is also a talented Caribbean Folk Dance instructor, and in August, Dorothy very generously put on a fabulous workshop for Age UK Islington.

The workshop was vibrant and full of energy.  Dorothy brought one of her wide colourful skirts and gave a demo of how its used in dance.  Those people attending from Age UK Islington brought bright coloured scarves.  The dance takes part in groups and is a wonderful flowing, visual art form.

“All participants and audience alike enjoyed the workshop immensely.  It was fun, a good way of keeping fit, meeting new people and sharing my passion for the genre. Though some were reluctant to join in at the beginning, once the music started – everyone took part and got moving”, says Dorothy.
