Explore the various ways we can support you below.

Dementia and Memory Problems

At Age UK Isle of Wight, we are proud to have four trained dementia care navigators who provide essential support both before and after a dementia diagnosis. Our team is knowledgeable about the unique needs of individuals facing memory challenges. We also contributed to the development of the Isle of Wight Dementia Strategy in collaboration with respected organisations like Parklands and the NHS.

With this wealth of expertise, we can customise our support to meet your needs. Our care navigators work closely with the Memory Board to expedite diagnoses and enhance your overall care experience. For more information about this service, please click here.

Your support worker and your care co-ordinator can speak regularly with our dementia care navigators to gain continious insight into how best to support you.

We recognise that every condition is unique and can fluctuate from day to day. Socialising and Recovery

Life can bring unexpected changes - be it social, health-related, or financial - that affect your day-to-day living. We’re here to help you navigate these transitions, supporting your socialisation and recovery. Our support workers include assistance with outings and transportation, making it easier for you to engage with the community.

For those expecting a hospital stay or facing temporary challenges, we offer short-term support to help maintain your independence at home. Our minimum support duration is a 6-week program, providing peace of mind if you need additional help during this time.

Neurodivergence, Autism, and ADHD

We understand that practical support is essential for maintaining independence and managing daily tasks. Our support workers can provide reassurance and assistance, giving you and your family peace of mind.

Additionally, we offer short breaks for caregivers, allowing you the opportunity for respite while ensuring your loved one is attended to. Please note that while we provide companionship and task support, we cannot assist with toileting or medication needs.

Supporting You with Caring Responsibilities

We know how important it is for caregivers to take a break. Our support workers can allow you to step out for an hour or two while knowing that someone reliable is keeping your loved one company or helping them with daily tasks.

This short-term support can be especially beneficial for those anticipating a hospital stay or a temporary inability to perform certain tasks.

Age UK Isle of Wight have a regular Friday afternoon Carer's Cafe that is free to attend. Click here to find out more.
