Good neighbours really can become good friends.
At Age UK Isle of Wight, we are proud to celebrate Volunteers Week by shining a spotlight on our award winning Good Neighbour Scheme. This cornerstone of our services provides essential assistance, friendship, and reliable support to local older people who may not have anyone else to turn to. With a network of dedicated volunteers in every community on the Isle of Wight, we are able to make a real difference in the lives of those in need.
The support provided by our Good Neighbour Scheme volunteers can vary from day to day, ranging from telephone befriending to face-to-face visits, helping with small home tasks, and providing administrative assistance. By matching volunteers with older residents in their own area, we aim to make it as convenient and meaningful as possible for both parties.
Volunteering with our Good Neighbour Scheme offers a range of benefits, including the opportunity to build meaningful connections, make a positive impact in your community, and gain valuable skills and experience. Whether you choose to provide telephone befriending, face-to-face visits, help with small home tasks, or administrative support, your time and effort can truly make a difference in someone's life.
Together, we can create a network of support and friendship that truly transforms lives. Thank you for considering joining our Good Neighbour Scheme and being the difference in your community.
By volunteering with us, you can be that friend for someone who needs it most.
