Sunshine and Flowers at the 23rd Wolverton Manor Garden Fair

One of the key events in the Age UK Isle of Wight fundraising calendar, the Wolverton Manor Garden Fair, took place last weekend.
Now in its 23rd year, Age UK IW is once again the main charity to benefit from the proceeds of this amazing event. This means all the money raised for the independent, Island-based charity stays on the Island to help enable older Islanders to live well independently.
The Island’s largest garden fair was a sun-kissed festival of great family-friendly fun, boasting everything from archery and kayaking, to dog shows and alpacas – and all stops in between! – not to mention great Island produce to taste and buy. It was once again a huge success and enjoyed record attendance this year.
Wolverton Manor is a fabulous, Grade I-listed Jacobean Manor House, built in the late 16th Century with later additions in the 18th Century. The garden fair was first started following a suggestion that a ‘Chelsea Flower Show’ could be held at Wolverton – and so the fair was born! The fair is hosted at Wolverton Manor each year through the kind generosity of its owners, the Paterson family.
Maria Bunce, Age UK IW’s Chief Operating Officer said: ‘We are so grateful to the Wolverton Manor Garden Fair Committee for all their work in organising this wonderful event once again, and for their continued support of Age UK IW.’
Helen Randall, Age UK IW Fundraising Officer, said: ‘Our grateful thanks obviously go to Wolverton Manor and the Garden Fair Committee but we also want to say a huge thank you to all our wonderful volunteers and supporters. Whether you were one of the brilliant local producers, businesses, clubs or organisations attending, or you helped at the fair, or came along as a visitor, we are grateful to all of you for supporting the event.’
