🌟 A Heartfelt Call for Volunteers 🌟
At Age UK Hythe, Lyminge, and Ashford, we are blessed to have so many wonderful volunteers who make a real difference in the lives of older people in our community. Today, we are reaching out with a special request: we need Meal Delivery Drivers to help bring hot, nutritious meals to our older clients on Saturdays and Sundays, between 11:45 am – 1:30 pm.
But here’s the thing—it doesn’t have to be every Saturday or Sunday, and you don’t have to commit to both days. Whatever time you can give, we’d be so grateful for your help.
Take Lauren, for example. She’s been delivering meals with us for the past year, and her dedication has meant the world to our clients. But it’s not just about the food—it’s about the warmth she brings. For Sarah, every delivery is an opportunity to brighten someone’s day with a smile and a few kind words.
Meals are hot and ready to go, and we just need your help to get them to our clients. All you need is your own vehicle, and we’ll take care of the rest! Mileage is reimbursed at 45p per mile, and we’ll carry out all necessary references and a DBS check for your peace of mind.
Even if you can only spare an hour or two, you can make a real difference. If you're interested or want to know more, please contact Sonya Knight at vc@ageukhla.org.uk or call 07342 634710.
We’d love to have you on board. Let’s work together to ensure that no one in our community feels alone. π

🚗 Join Our Volunteer Driver Team in Ashford! 🚗
We are looking for a caring volunteer driver based in Ashford to help us transport our clients to and from our centre. This is such a rewarding role, where you’ll be helping ensure that older people in our community can attend our activities, social groups, and services.
You’ll be required to drive one of our 7 or 9-seater vehicles (no special license required!), and you’ll need to be over the age of 25 for insurance purposes. The role involves collecting clients from their homes and bringing them to the centre in the mornings (9 am – 11 am) and taking them home again at the end of the day (2:15 pm – 4 pm).
Alternatively, if you’d prefer to use your own vehicle, you can! We will reimburse you for mileage at 45p per mile.
It’s a small but significant way to make a big difference in someone’s day, ensuring they can enjoy the companionship and support of our activities. Your time and kindness will truly be appreciated!
If you’re interested in volunteering or would like more information, please contact Sonya Knight at vc@ageukhla.org.ukor call 07342 634710.
We’re looking forward to hearing from you and welcoming you to our volunteer team! π

Why volunteer?
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and support the work we do in the community.
Who can volunteer?
Almost anyone over the age of 18 can be a volunteer. We have a wide range of roles which suit different people and different skills.
All volunteer roles are subject to a criminal record check with some roles also requiring a Disclosure Barring Service check too.
How much time do I need to give?
It depends on the volunteer role you are interested in. Some people give an hour a week, other people do more.
What else you can do to support us
-
Take part in a fundraiser
Could you help us to raise vital funds by taking part in a fundraising event? We have regular events such as sponsored walks, but you could also do your own fundraiser like a cake sale.
-
Get your colleagues involved
Could you talk to your colleagues or your employer about how you can support us? We have lots of ideas for how organisations can get involved, including sponsoring an event, making us Charity of the Year, or donating equipment.
