New Volunteering Opportunity
Published on 10 February 2023 04:35 PM
We are piloting an exciting new project to help reduce the risk of falls. You will be working together with Age UK HHB, Primary Care Staff from local GP Surgeries and patients. We will provide one to one and group activity sessions of strength and Balancing exercises and advice.
What will you learn?
Working with our Qualified Physiotherapist, you will be trained in carrying out falls prevention activities such as assessments, reducing the risks of falling and simple exercises that will improve mobility. You may visit people in their homes and show them the exercises and also talk about health and wellbeing steps to reduce the risk of falling. You may be working with surgeries to provide small group activities.
What is the Commitment?
We ask that you attend two training sessions and commit approximately 2 hours per week to supporting our service users.
What do we offer you?
- Training and Induction given by our fully qualified Physiotherapist
- Full support to carry out your volunteering
- Free DBS Check
- Travel expenses
- Opportunity to learn new skills/ experience
This is a fantastic first step for those thinking of joining or already training for many fields such as Sports fitness, Physiotherapy, Health and Social care work, Ageing well fields, Hospital services and care work. However, this is also a great opportunity for anyone wanting to support older residents and make a difference.
Why not give your time to support others whilst learning a valuable new skill?
