Befriending Service
Our Befriending Services include our popular Visiting Scheme and Telephone Club.
We are here to provide friendship and a listening ear in your loved ones own home or over the telephone.
Due to COVID-19 our home visits are now either over the telephone, via Zoom or as by government guidelines, as garden visits.
-
Visiting Scheme
Our Volunteers provide friendship and a listening ear if your loved one is feeling isolated in their own home. A carefully matched volunteer will visit them regulary to share news, views and interets.
-
Telephone Club
Our Telephone Club provides friendship over the phone. Your loved one can enjoy a regular friendly chat with one of our Telephone Befrienders.
What do I do next
- If you think your family member or friend would be insterested in a volunteer befriender, contact the relevant coordinator for your area. The coordinator may want to discuss with you the current social and living situation of the the person you are recommending (if you wish, you can be placed a main point of contact for the client)
- Once the coordinator is happy with the details you have provided, they will suggested that they come and meet with you and your loved one in the home where the weekly visits will be - this is just to gather an idea of what the client is like to make sure we match them with their perfect volunteer!
- If your loved one, coordinator and yourself are happy, the client will then be placed onto a waiting list were the coordinator will search for the perfect volunteer for them to be matched with.
