Brian's Story
What inspired you to start fundraising for Age UK Hertfordshire?
"I work for Age UK Hertfordshire as a Minibus Driver and Care Assistant. During the COVID-19 pandemic I was furloughed and I wanted to do something to help during very challenging times, especially as a lot of fundraising events were being postponed."
What was your fundraising project?
"I decided to create my own challenge and complete 1000 press ups in 24 hours!"
How did you gain support?
"I basically scattered the word far and wide! I put it on to my own social media pages (Facebook etc) and shared with all of my contacts on whatsapp. I also contacted all of my extended family and advertised the challenge in the newsletter for some of the Age UK Hertfordshire clients which we produced weekly during the pandemic."
What was the best part about your fundraising journey?
"Getting back in contact with friends who I hadn’t spoken to for quite a while. The generosity of people who I had lost touch with was heart warming."
How would you sum up your fundraising experience?
"It was a very tough challenge, but I great support from family and friends which made it so much easier!"
