Gwen's Story

Gwen suffers with health problems and was feeling very lonely and isolated after losing confidence in going to her usual lunch club and having very little family. So Gwen referred herself to Age UK Hertfordshire’s Visiting Scheme.
She was matched with volunteer Sandra and they have got on fabulously ever since. They both look forward to seeing each other every week and during lockdown, they spoke regularly on the phone and Sandra got some shopping and has helped out with taking Gwen to hospital appointments.
Sandra’s befriending has made an extremely positive impact on Gwen. It has helped to alleviate her loneliness and isolation and Gwen has made a friend for life!
