About us
We're a local charity working in the community to support older people, their families and carers. We want everyone to be able to love later life.
Age UK Herne Bay & Whitstable is an independent charity with its own constitution and funding administered by locally appointed Trustees. Age UK is the UK's largest organisation working for and on behalf of older people.
Age UK Herne Bay was established as an independent charity in 1946 and since then has always moved with the times.
In 2018 we extended our area of benefit and began to also deliver services to residents in Whitstable. At this time Age UK Herne Bay and Whitstable was created. Today we continue to support older people from Reculver through to Seasalter as well as the outlying villages.
We operate two centres in Herne Bay, the Bradbury Day Centre and the Hazel Neville Dementia Care Unit both at our site in Reculver Road Beltinge. Other services are delivered in venues in Whitstable and Herne Bay as well as in clients own homes.
The volunteer base of our operation is the nucleus of our success, their performance enhancing our highly valued reputation.
Over 60 years, the range of services delivered continues to evolve and grow according to the needs of older people. This process is continuing as our centre is extended and how we deliver services is adapting in the light of pandemic.
