Well, what an interesting walk...

Published on 22 August 2024 02:33 PM

We have recruited another three members to join our hiking team, so it was only right to get them to come along on one of our training treks.

This time, we followed a path on All Trails. All Trails is a free app that takes us on routes that showcase local beauty, and not somewhere you may usually know you could go for a walk.

Well, what an interesting walk.

Not only were we followed through a field by horses, met six huge guard dogs (who were not happy to see us), crossed paths with hundreds of running pigs and had to get through a field with two young bulls in, but just to top it off, my phone died with the map on!

Top tip: make sure your phone is fully charged before the Malvern Hike Against Loneliness in case of emergencies. Although, we will be safely guided throughout the entire hike by the experienced team at Elite Adventures in this instance.

It was an eventful walk but those are our favourite kind. Safe to say our new recruits got a real flavour for the team and we won’t be forgetting this one any time soon!

The view of the Blackdown Hills were incredible. The only sounds you could hear were wild animals from afar.

Focuses for next week: regular walking to build our level of fitness

Distance: 5 miles

Elevation gain: 194m
