We're signed up! Now what?

We are so excited to have signed up to the Malvern Hike Against Loneliness.

However, none of our team had actually been up the Malvern Hills before, we've just admired them from a distance. So, we thought we would throw ourselves in at the deep end and see how we would get on. Our trek began from the same car park that the challenge will begin at and took us up to the top of North Hill, and back down again.

Safe to say, more training is needed.

Although it was hard and we struggled at times, it was good to see what areas of training we need to focus on to get prepared for the real event. For me, I could walk for miles, however inclines are a struggle and that is what my training will focus on. Controlled breathing is something I will also be working on.

The slog to the top of North Hill was worth it. The views at the top are incredible and you can see for miles. It's always my favourite part of any hike. Until you realise you are only half way and you must make it back down again.

For the next couple of weeks, we will be doing shorter walks around the area, focusing on inclines in the preparation to try to tackle the Malvern hills again soon!

Distance: 4 miles

Elevation gain: 200m
