Lloyds Bank doubles the money raised by the Droitwich Lions to help local people living with dementia

The Droitwich Lions Club raised £500 from its giant bric a brac sale held at the St Andrew’s Parish Centre for the ‘Droitwich Spa Meeting Centre’ that helps people living with dementia. This followed on from an earlier donation from the Droitwich Womens Lions group when the Centre was initially setting up at the Droitwich Rugby Club.

Droitwich Lion Bill Phillips said: "We hold these monthly sales and other fundraising activities to support local groups as essentially we want to help local causes which benefit the people of Droitwich”.

The £500 was kindly matched by the Lloyds Bank Foundation that supports local bank staff who fundraise and volunteer for charities of their choice.

Dot Cook from the Droitwich Spa branch of Lloyds Bank helped on the stalls and did a great selling job. She said: “I was very happy to give my time to support this local charity which is providing a really friendly and stimulating place for those with dementia and their family members and carers”.

Alan Humphries, Chair of the Droitwich Spa Meeting Centre said “We are very grateful for this and other support coming from the local community. The Centre helps people to stay independent for longer and enjoy a better quality of life. The Meeting Centre is about giving everyone involved, both members and family carers, the practical and emotional support they need to adjust to living with dementia”.

The Meeting Centre is open on a Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10.30am – 3.30pm and is currently welcoming new members so if you would like to attend or know someone who would please contact the Centre via email: mcsp@ageukhw.org.uk  or telephone 01905 740950

If you would like to support the Centre you can donate via the Just Giving page.
