Hear about our Half Marathon Heroes!

As autumn settles in, you might picture a serene Sunday morning in Hyde Park with winter coats, hot chocolate, and tranquillity. However, the Royal Parks Half Marathon (RPHM) offered a very different experience.
RPHM is an event Age UK Hammersmith & Fulham have had runners in for four consecutive years now, and with 8 people running for us this year, it was another rip-roaring success!
Regardless of ability, completing a half marathon is no small feat and we were in awe of each and every one of our runners who flew by. It is easy to forget that every runner has been through months of rigorous training to build stamina, and the mental battle is just as tough; staying motivated and pushing through fatigue, especially in the final miles, can be daunting.
Equipped with bells, posters, and even a tambourine, a team from Age UK H&F (made up of staff and one wonderful volunteer) assembled just north of the Serpentine to cheer on our fantastic fundraisers as they made 13.1 miles look like a... walk in the park. For some, it was their first half marathon and just reaching the finish line was a huge achievement, while others were focused on breaking their personal records!
It was fantastic to see the 8 runners post-race and congratulate them. We would be unable to deliver vital services to older people in Hammersmith and Fulham without the selflessness of our supporters and for this we are all so grateful. A special thank you goes to Aimee, Edward, George, Gretel, James, Nico, Paddy, and Tom! We are in awe of all their hard work running and fundraising.
If you, or anyone you know, would be interested in supporting us, we have places in the London Landmarks Half Marathon in April 2025 and other opportunities to run, swim, and cycle later in the year. It is a truly selfless and rewarding experience, and one we would love to share with you.
