Empowering Older Women: Fulham FC Joins Forces with Age UK Hammersmith & Fulham for International Women's Day

At Age UK Hammersmith & Fulham, we're dedicated to celebrating and supporting older women in our community. International Women's Day, marked annually on 8th March, is a poignant reminder of women's incredible contributions and resilience throughout history and today.
While the football world continues to evolve, with more women attending matches and engaging with the sport, there are still hurdles to overcome. Many older women may have fond memories of attending matches in the past yet find themselves overlooked in the modern game. From a lack of dedicated spaces to issues of safety and representation, there's work to be done to ensure that all fans feel welcome and valued.
Recognising the importance of inclusion and representation, Age UK Hammersmith & Fulham has partnered with Fulham Supporters Trust for the third consecutive year to provide a unique experience for a group of older women. On Saturday, 2nd March, these remarkable individuals were treated to a thrilling match between Fulham FC and Brighton at Craven Cottage. Amidst cheers and excitement, the team secured a memorable 2-1 victory, leaving our group with smiles and cherished memories.
"It was heartwarming to see older women like us represented and welcomed in the football. We are always looked after here. Excellent experience, and would love to do it time and time again. Thank you to Age UK Hammersmith & Fulham and Fulham Supporters Trust for this incredible opportunity."
As we celebrate International Women's Day, let's continue to uplift and empower older women, ensuring they can participate and thrive in all aspects of life, including the beautiful game of football.
