Meet Teresa

Meet Teresa Flynn who has been with us for 30 years.

We recently spoke to our AGE UK Hammersmith & Fulham Shop Manager Teresa Flynn who has been a valued member of our organisation for an incredible thirty years.  Teresa started out as a volunteer after her children had finished school and was introduced to the two founding members of AGE UK within the borough. Teresa told us,

"I couldn’t help but be drawn in by their passion, what they believed in and the work they put in".

After twelve years of volunteering, Teresa later moved to an official position managing the AGE UK H&F shop where she has continued for the last eighteen.  

When we spoke to Teresa and the team, they were busily preparing for the W12 based shops' grand re-opening on the 14th April.  Pre pandemic the shop saw upwards of one hundred customers walk through its doors each day - so opening up again was understandably eagerly awaited.

Teresa wanted us to really understand how much she and her team value the customers and members who they were used to seeing each day.  Being a ‘hub’ for AGE UK regulars, the shop also acts as a gateway for the development of relationships amongst its community. For many who have little opportunity for social contact, the shop re-opening couldn’t come soon enough.

The shop has now been reconfigured with the help of a great team of builders and what's more, one of the brilliant volunteers with a background in window dressing has been all hands on deck transforming the window to beautifully showcase the Spring / Summer offering.

As with last summer, the shop has been fully fitted to be as Covid compliant as possible with sanitation stations in place and sanitary practices in full swing.

Teresa and her team can’t wait to welcome everyone back!
