Feeling comfortable travelling outside of the home is not always guaranteed. Challenges may arise which can make leaving home seem much harder, or something to avoid. Being able to continue daily routines, enjoy hobbies and interact with the community is hugely important, yet these often rely on being able to travel. Blue Badges can help to reduce some of the difficulty seen within leaving the home. They can provide a way to remain independent, enable daytrips to be inclusive of all the family or simply give peace of mind when going about daily activities. The badges allow people to park closer to destinations, reduce costs of parking or extend timing restrictions, all of which can make outings more accessible.

To allow those who are entitled to receive their Blue Badge an application process is required. Our Help Team and their volunteers provide assistance with this form to ensure as many people as possible are able to make use of this supportive scheme. We hope to support many more through this process and keep our numbers of successful applications rising.

To help support even more older people we need your help. Full training is given for this role as well as regular support from the Help Team to make sure you have the skills and confidence to provide this assistance. If you feel you could help with these efforts, a full Role Description can be found here.
