Holding a raffle is a quick and easy way of boosting donations, as it can be incorporated into lots of other fundraising events.

A step-by-step guide to hosting your charity raffle

  • Follow the legalities. Make sure you check whether you need a gambling license for your event, and confirm that you're following legal requirements.
  • Choose a time and location. Pick a date, time and place that's convenient and likely to be popular, and use our downloadable poster to advertise the raffle.
  • Organise prizes. Ask around to see what prizes your contacts or local businesses are willing to donate. Prizes could include sharing time and expertise, as well as vouchers or gifts. Consider offering those who donate prizes a shout-out in your raffle as a thank you.
  • Get the materials you need. Raffle number books are often available to purchase at supermarkets, stationers or online.
  • Sell tickets. Set a charge per ticket entry. The more tickets you can encourage people to buy per person, the more money you'll raise to help older people.
  • Pay in the money you've raised. Use our simple form to pay in your fundraising.

Why raise money for Age UK?

Every older person should be included and valued, but that isn't the reality. Across the UK, thousands of older people are left feeling isolated and forgotten, with no one to talk to about challenges like care, the cost of living crisis, and loneliness in later life.

By fundraising for Age UK, you'll support services like the Age UK Advice Line, which offers timely information and support 365 days a year. You'll help us campaign for older people’s rights, so we can push for the UK to be a better place to grow older in the years to come. And you'll support our telephone friendship service, which connects older people with someone to talk to whenever loneliness strikes.
