This Christmas, you can help someone like Michael

Michael, 73, finds the Christmas period particularly isolating. He lives alone and can go days without speaking to another person. 

Thankfully, Michael heard about the Age UK Telephone Friendship Service. His weekly calls with telephone befriender Gemma help him to feel less alone – at Christmas and all year round.

“Knowing there is always a voice at the end of the phone is life-changing.” 

How your fundraising helps

Every penny you raise can help Age UK provide the human connection that too many older people live without.

  • £50 could help campaign to ensure older people's voices are heard at the heart of government.

  • £140 could help pay for a Benefits Entitlement Check, to identify additional income for an older person during the cost of living crisis.

  • £310 could help pay towards a whole year of telephone friendship calls to a lonely older person who has no one to talk to.
