Age UK East Sussex’s Zowie Price Loses Her Hair for Charity

On 16th August 2019 the Worshipful the Mayor of Hastings Councillor Nigel Sinden joined Zowie Price, Age UK East Sussex Information Officer, who had agreed to have her head shaved in an act of solidarity with all those who have faced cancer treatment.
In addition to raising vital money for Age UK East Sussex and Macmillan Home Support, Zowie lost her lovely locks to help raise awareness of the support available through Age UK’s Information Centre at Priory Meadow for local people over 50 with health and finance needs.
The Worshipful the Mayor of Hastings Councillor Nigel Sinden said: “I am delighted to be able to attend this event and support Zowie and her colleagues at the Age UK East Sussex Information Centre in Priory Meadow. I hope Zowie’s act of bravery is acknowledged and supported throughout Hastings and St Leonards and raises funds and publicity for these worthy causes”.
Zowie said: "I've faced family battles with cancer and I meet many clients who are facing their own battles. I want them to know that we are here to help and there is a lot of help available which people don't know about".
The Information Centre is open Monday to Friday from 9 am – 5.30pm and centre manager, Kate Burman, said: "we provide a range of support and advice for those over 50, their family, friends and carers. We work in partnership with Macmillan through our Home Support service and can provide access to all possible sources of support for people facing cancer treatment and care. Many clients are unaware that there is money available to support them and a range of partners and local services we can link them with”.
Age UK East Sussex has recently refurbished its Information Centre and added new private meeting rooms so clients can discuss their issues and concerns in complete privacy.
Kate Burman said: “These new facilities will mean we can provide a fully confidential service for our clients, many of whom have complex issues and problems which require a longer appointment to support”.
Please call 01273 476704 to make an appointment with one of our trained staff members or just drop in on Friday 16th August. You can sponsor Zowie whilst you are there and help raise valuable funds for Age UK East Sussex and Macmillan.
Zowie said: “I want to raise as much money as possible for this fantastic Information Centre to ensure that future generations can access the help, support and advice they need. It’s such a community asset for Hastings and St Leonards with lots of problems we can help with".
