Cold Weather Warning

The Cold Weather Alert – Level 3 which has been in place since Wednesday 7th has been extended until 1200hrs on Sunday 18th December. There is a 99% probability of severe cold weather/icy conditions between 0900 on Wednesday 14 Dec and 1200 on Sunday 18 Dec in London. This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services.
On the 7th December the Met Office issued a Level 3 Cold Weather Alert. This means that there is a high chance of severe winter weather conditions in London for the rest of the week.
Follow these tips to make sure you stay warm and safe this winter:
- Stay tuned into the weather forecast
- Try and heat your home to at least 18C and wear warm clothing inside
- If you must go out dress warmly and wear non-slip shoes. Tell someone where you are going and when you will be back. Keep your mobile phone on you and charged.
- Dress warmly, eat warm food, take warm drinks regularly; keep active
- Check on those you know are at risk
- If you are concerned about your own health or that of others, alert emergency services
