Age UK East London is a local, independent charity which benefits from being part of the Age UK network and has been working in East London for more than 36 years, developing our services according the changing need of our population. Our vision is for Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham to be boroughs where people age well, and where older people live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives.

How We Work

Older people come to us for help accessing their benfits and entitlements with our accredited information, advice and advocacy service-desk and a range of services which include befriending support, lunch clubs and activities in the community to bring people together. We also support people to move safely home from four East London hospitals and provide handyperson services to make homes safe.

Last year our advice services increased the incomes of older Londoners by £3.94million and our hospital service enabled 3,802 older people to safely return home from hospital.

Our Values

Older people and their carers are our partners in everything we do.  We are:

Kind - We treat all clients, colleagues and partners with kindness, patience, generosity and care.

Accountable - We do what we say we are going to do

Collaborative - We work as equal partners with clients.

Flexible - We adapt according to the needs of our clients

Inclusive -  We want all older people to feel that Age UK East London is for them.

Where you can find us

We offer services primarily across the London Boroughs of Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets but we also deliver some services or partner with organisations in the City of London, Waltham Forest and Havering.
