About us

Age UK East London is a local, independent charity which benefits from being part of the Age UK network and has been working in East London for more than 36 years, developing our services according the changing need of our population. Our vision is for Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham to be boroughs where people age well, and where older people live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives.
How We Work
Our Values
Older people and their carers are our partners in everything we do. We are:
Kind - We treat all clients, colleagues and partners with kindness, patience, generosity and care.
Accountable - We do what we say we are going to do
Collaborative - We work as equal partners with clients.
Flexible - We adapt according to the needs of our clients
Inclusive - We want all older people to feel that Age UK East London is for them.
Where you can find us
We offer services primarily across the London Boroughs of Hackney, Newham and Tower Hamlets but we also deliver some services or partner with organisations in the City of London, Waltham Forest and Havering.
Visit our Contact us page for more information on our various centres and addresses.
How we are funded
We are funded through commissions, grants and donations from the public. We can only continue to provide care and support in our communities with the generous help of our supporters. If you would like to donate please visit our Fundraising page.
What we do
-
We give advice
Our trained advisors offer free information and advice to older people and their families.
-
We support older people's forums
We support an Older People's Reference Group (OPRG) in each of our boroughs. Find out more and get involved today!
-
We befriend
Our volunteer befrienders visit lonely older people in the community who have no one to talk to. Please note this service is only currently available in Tower Hamlets due to funding restrictions.
-
We provide activities
Our day centres have a wide range of activity groups and events, such as lunch clubs and exercise classes, giving older people the opportunity to keep fit, socialise, or learn a new skill.
