Job Title: Befriending Coordinator

Reporting to: Befriending Manager

Location:  Greenford Community Centre

Pay Rate: £19,146 per annum

Contract: Fixed-term contract providing maternity cover until January 2025

Hours: 4 days per week (hours of 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday)


Job Description

Age UK Ealing is looking to recruit a dedicated and compassionate Befriending Services Coordinator. This role is essential in supporting and assisting elderly and vulnerable individuals within the community, helping them build networks and maintain social connections. The position is part-time, flexible, and funded until January 2025.


Key Responsibilities

  • Service Coordination: oversee the befriending services program for elderly and vulnerable individuals.
  • The role will demand a division of time between the office, and out in the community completing home assessments and matching visits. 
  • Referral Management: Handle referrals from various sources such as self-referral, councils, community groups, and GPs for individuals identified as socially vulnerable.
  • Assessment: Conduct one-on-one assessments in clients' homes to evaluate their needs and determine the suitability of befriending services.
  • Volunteer support: matching volunteers to clients based on compatibility and interests.
  • Event Organisation: Plan and facilitate social activities and events to encourage community engagement and reduce isolation.
  • Support and Guidance: Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers and clients.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of interactions, activities, and assessments. Document all activities in the online CRM system and use spreadsheets as needed.
  • Reporting: Pull and prepare reports from the system to update KPIs regularly.
  • Collaboration: Work with local agencies, services, and community groups to enhance support networks for beneficiaries.
  • Travel: Travel within the Ealing area to meet clients and occasionally transport them to places. Mileage is expensed at 40p per mile.


Requirements

  • Experience: Prior experience working with elderly and vulnerable individuals in a community or social care setting.


Skills

  • Strong organisational, coordination, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good knowledge of the Ealing area and local services.
  • IT literacy, including proficiency in using CRM systems and spreadsheets.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, proactive, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Transport

Own vehicle required for travel (mileage reimbursed at 40p per mile).
