20th Anniversary Celebration

In 2023, Age UK Ealing reached a huge milestone and on a sunny summer afternoon the charity and its service users came together to  celebrate its 20th anniversary.

On Thursday 8 Jun, service users, supporters, local businesses and charities joined forces to celebrate Age UK Ealing’s work in the local community over the past 20 years.

Ealing’s newly-elected mayor, Cllr. Hitesh Tailor, joined other invited guests – including James Murray, Labour (Co-op) MP for Ealing North, Dr Rupa Huq, Labour MP for Ealing Central and Acton and Virendra Sharma, Labour MP for Southall – for a garden party in the grounds of Greenford Community Centre, home to Age UK Ealing’s popular Day Centre.

There was entertainment from The BATS of Ealing, who had people singing and dancing all afternoon and the stalls from NHS Services, Ealing Trailfinders, The Jolly Activities Club and Age UK Ealing’s own Digital Inclusion Service, kept people informed and entertained.

A variety of companies – including Nix Events, Nix Events, The Cake House, Tesco Perivale, Tesco CFC Greenford, Tesco Northfield, Waitrose West Ealing, Heriots Patisserie, Savills, The Ealing Project, Charlie's Fruit Bowl, Old Oak Florist, Mooch, Aladdin's Cave, Bella Mira, Coscutter Pitshanger Lane– provided refreshments, fundraising, and raffle prizes.

The smooth running of the day was helped by an army of volunteers provided by Sky UK, e.surv Chartered Surveyors and Tetley. These volunteers gave up their time to talk to our service users, help serve them lunch and assist with the set-up and break-down of the day.

Age UK Ealing staff and volunteers played a huge part in the run up to the event and were also instrumental in making sure our guests enjoyed themselves on the day. Our former Chair and current trustee, David Muir, was recognised for his long length of service to the charity.

Speaking about the event, Age UK Ealing CEO Reginald Parkinson said: “To reach 20 years is a fantastic achievement that had to be celebrated with all those who have been there on Age UK Ealing’s journey. We are very proud to be able to provide support for over 10,000 older people a year and we want to continue to do this for a very long time.”
