On Wednesday 1 June 2022, members of the local Age UK Ealing community – including our service users, staff, volunteers, supporters and local businesses – came together at Age UK Ealing's Greenford Community Centre to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
We were delighted to welcome over 100 service users, as well as guests including Ealing’s newly-elected mayor, Cllr. Mohinder Midha; Cllr. Aysha Raza, Cabinet Member for Tackling Inequality; James Murray, Labour (Co-op) MP for Ealing North; and Mr Virendra Sharma, the Labour MP for Ealing, Southall – for a street party like no other.
With music from West Ealing’s Love2Sing Choir, swing band The Don Stuart Duo and steelband The Metronome Steel Orchestra, guests were soon joining in the singing and dancing, including a rousing rendition of Jubilee anthem 'Sweet Caroline,' by Neil Diamond. There were also stalls showcasing local businesses including The Cake House London, Home Instead, The Dog Club, Ealing Community Transport, Mahila Sabha and Blooms by Eberé, and a variety of other companies – including Papillion Café, Cinnamon on the Lane, Busby’s Hair & Beauty, The Pitshanger Bookshop, Mooch Pitshanger, The Ealing Project, The Jolly Activities Club, Chanel Productions, Baby Sensory South Harrow, Tesco Ealing Broadway, Tesco Perivale and Waitrose West Ealing – provided refreshments, fundraising, and raffle prizes.
The event was made possible thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund and local sponsors The Ealing Hearing Centre, Go View London, Galaxy Real Estate Greenford, and Ealing Distillery. Tetley UK and Salesforce provided volunteers to help staff the event.

We want to say a huge CHEERS to everyone who came along. Thanks for helping us turn Greenford red, white and blue!
As well as celebrating Her Majesty the Queen's achievement in reaching 70 years on the throne, the event also gave us the opportunity to recognise our many wonderful volunteers.
Their own incredible achievements were recognised in a special ceremony overseen by Age UK Ealing's Chair of Trustees, Charles Lowe.
