Age UK Devon’s Santa Run is taking a break for 2024

Published on 24 September 2024 03:08 PM

For the last two years Age UK Devon has been bringing the festive spirit to Exmouth with their family friendly Santa Run, raising vital funds to support their services. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond their control, Age UK Devon have made the decision to not go ahead with this year’s run.

Staff have been working closely with East Devon District Council to find a way to host this much-loved fundraiser. However, with the upcoming planned repairs to the sea wall closing the Esplanade in Exmouth and safety concerns with alternative locations, the decision was made to take a break in 2024.

Sophie Littlewood, Age UK Devon’s Chief Executive said “We are disappointed to not be going ahead this year with our Santa Run in Exmouth, however the safety of the runners who take part is always our top priority. This fundraising event has become a fantastic way to kick start the festive season and we look forward to seeing everyone donning their Santa hats again when it returns.”

Age UK Devon’s Santa Run is planned to return to Exmouth in 2025 with full details being announced on their website later in the year at www.ageuk.org.uk/devon.

Alternatively, if you would still like to complete a Santa Run for Age UK Devon this year, why not take the time to run 5KM or 2.5KM in festive clothes this December, donate to Age UK Devon on completion and help to change the lives of older people in Devon this Christmas.
