Some of our services will require sensitive data in order to provide the information and support required.

  • Financial information for a benefits check or the processing of a donation
  • Medical information for health related services
  • Personal information for a services that provides care and support

Age UK Derby and Derbyshire recognises ICO guidance that these are “special categories” of data and would only be collected if absolutely necessary

  • offer suitable support

Who has access to your information?

We will not sell or rent your information to third parties. 

We will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes. 

We can use a ‘best interests’ approach to process personal data for a new purpose but will only use a best interests approach where there is a clearly identifiable benefit to the individual which outweighs any benefit to the charity. Each best interests decision will be taken on a case by case basis. A best interests approach will not be considered for the sale or promotion of a product or service.

It may be necessary to pass your information to a 3rd party in order to process a service (e.g. when you make a donation), but we will only share the personal information necessary to deliver the service.

Keeping your information safe

When you give us personal information, we take steps to ensure that it’s treated securely. Information about service users/clients is either held:

-       in our database, ‘Charitylog delivered by Dizions’ which is password protected and held securely on their servers

-       on our work computers, and Microsoft Office which are password protected

-       locked away in filing cabinets
