Captain Sir Tom Moore

The news that Captain Sir Tom Moore has died will sadden many people who had been inspired by his fundraising efforts last year and his positive outlook on life. His personal effort to achieve his 100 laps of his garden before his 100^th birthday came to embody the determined efforts of the NHS to cope with the first wave of Covid victims. His reassuring belief in the people of the United Kingdom to face a common challenge and overcome it by working together gave people hope in some dark days. While we continue to live under the threat of Covid19, tackle the challenges of administering a protective vaccine and meeting the demands on health and social services we will miss his wisdom and spirit.

He lived a remarkable life and a full one he served his country, was a partner, a father and a grandfather and he retained his zest for life to the very end. Every life ends but Captain Tom could look back on a long, full and despite his armed service and widowhood a happy life.  So I hope we can remember Captain Tom with love and be grateful he was there when we needed him and feel our deepest sympathies for his family and friends who will miss him so much.
