We're pleased to present a wonderful opportunity for an individual eager to contribute to our Digital Champions Project.

This role is focused on the hands-on aspect of delivering digital skills sessions to older people in the community, either in group settings or through one-on-one interactions in their homes. As part of the Age Cymru West Glamorgan team, you'll be directly supporting the Digital Champion Programme, ensuring that participants receive the guidance and assistance they need to become proficient in using technology.

While the coordinator oversees the broader aspects of the project, your role will be deeply involved in the practical delivery of services. You'll be the friendly face that clients see, helping them navigate the digital world and gain confidence in their skills. Your patience, clear communication, and supportive teaching style will be key to making technology approachable and useful for our participants.  Support may include:

  • Show them how to get and use apps on their phone or tablet that make things easier, like banking, shopping, making appointments etc.
  • Help them set up a smart TV that can stream things like movies, shows, documentaries, or music, from the internet and show them how to find what they want to watch or listen to from different places.
  • Assisting them with setting up a WIFI connection in their home and connecting their devices to it, ensuring that they have a secure and reliable internet access.
  • Show them how fun and useful the internet can be for talking to people, having fun, learning new things, and joining online groups, and show them some websites and apps that they might like or need.
  • Teaching them how to use WhatsApp, video calls, and other messaging apps to stay in touch with their family, friends, and neighbours, and how to send and receive photos, videos, and voice messages.
  • Setting up Spotify or other music streaming apps on their devices and showing them how to create playlists, discover new songs, and listen to podcasts or radio stations.
  • Answering any questions they might have about technology and providing them with tips and resources to improve their digital skills and confidence.

We welcome individuals from all backgrounds who are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of older people. Whether you have formal qualifications or have gained valuable life experience, if you have a passion for teaching and a drive to support others, we'd love to have you on our team.
