Getting older can be daunting and as such, many of us may be avoiding planning ahead for our later years.

Power of Attorneys, Will writing, and financial planning are just some of the crucial issues we need to consider, but where do you even begin looking into this?

Here at Age Cymru West Glamorgan, we support people aged 50+ across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot, and Bridgend, by providing services to help them plan ahead and to live and age well.

Here’s three services we provide that will take the stress out of your planning for older age.

Help with Lasting Power of Attorney

Having a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) in place is essential in case of accident or illness that means you can no longer make decisions for yourself.

With an LPA, you can appoint one or more people whom you trust to help you make decisions or to make decisions on your behalf.

There are two types of LPA:

  • health and welfare; giving your appointed attorney the power to make medical decisions for you such as healthcare, moving into a care home or at home care, and life-sustaining treatment
  • property and financial affairs; giving your appointed attorney the power to make decisions relating to your property and money including managing your bank account, paying bills, collecting benefits or pension, and selling your home.

The cost for drawing up your LPA with us is £175 (inc VAT) for one, or £235 (inc VAT) for both. These fees don’t include the additional cost of registering the document, which is £82 for one, or £164 for both, and additional court fees which you may be exempt from if you are on means tested benefits.

Find out more or make an appointment for a FREE LPA consultation on 01792 589654 or email enquiries@agecymruwestglamorgan.org.uk.
