Thanks to Innocent Smoothies, we receive 25p for every hat sent to our office in Newtown to help maintain our services for older Powys residents.
Last year we raised over £6,000 – a big thank you to all our big knitters for your fantastic fundraising for us!
Did you know the Big Knit started in Powys?
The Big Knit started back in 2003 in Montgomery, Powys, with an idea. The kind people at Innocent Smoothies asked some older people, and some younger people, to knit little woolly hats. Innocent put those hats on their smoothies, and for each one sold they made a donation of 25p to the local Age Cymru / Age UK.
The idea snowballed and wonderful people across the UK have knitted millions of hats. So far the Big Knit has raised over £3 million for Age Cymru and Age UK and we hope to raise much more in the future.
