Honouring John Roberts: A Legacy Preserved in the West Wales Veterans Archive

At Age Cymru Dyfed, we are privileged to work with incredible individuals whose stories deserve to be remembered and celebrated. One such story is that of John Roberts, a Royal Navy veteran who served from 1943 to 1967. Thanks to the dedication of Neil Davies from our older veterans project, John’s remarkable life and service have been carefully archived and are now publicly accessible in the award-winning West Wales Archive section of the People’s Collection Wales.

Neil has worked tirelessly to ensure that John’s legacy is preserved for future generations. This has been a true labour of love, compiling recorded interviews, photographs, documents, and a written narrative that together paint a vivid picture of John’s experiences and contributions. The collection, now available on the West Wales Archive of People’s Collection Wales website, ensures that John’s story remains an enduring part of our history.

John Roberts’ service spanned over two decades, witnessing pivotal moments in naval history. His experiences, sacrifices, and dedication to duty are now available for all to explore, offering invaluable insight into the life of a veteran and the challenges and triumphs of his time in service.

This archive is more than just a collection of memories—it is a tribute to John and to all veterans whose stories must never be forgotten.
